Introduction

Judith K. Coleman, C.S.W.

Psychotherapist in Private Practice

New York, NY

Psychotherapy is a process in which a person gains knowledge about their moods, emotions, thoughts, feelings and behavior. Effective coping skills are learned that provide the tools to manage difficult and uncertain situations.

In therapy, shared life stories are a rich resource of important information to be understood, not only as they were experienced in the past but how they may influence the present as well as the future. Whether individual, couple or family therapy is indicated, psychotherapy resembles assembling an intricate puzzle. Sometimes the pieces are easily found and fit together comfortably. At other times, the puzzle components are difficult to locate and put together.

As a therapist, I value and respect the therapeutic relationship and am committed to working with my patients to achieve a more balanced and satisfying life.
